Do you want to treat your alopecia with natural products? Here are my tips to start a natural transition smoothly!
1. Check that you have no contraindications to using certain ingredients
All situations, people, alopecia are different so the results may differ from one person to another and it is important to respect any possible contraindications that you may have to use certain natural ingredients such as essential oils and even to abandon mixidil. Essential oils should not be used alone because they are very powerful. Dosages must be followed to the letter if you do not know how to handle them. It is best to seek professional help if your alopecia is severe and developing quickly.
2. For 4 months, do a natural "test" routine, in addition to minoxidil
Don't give up on minoxidil right away! Start by alternating minoxidil and oil baths, just to see if you see the effects in 4-5 months. Don't forget to replace your shampoo with a real natural solid shampoo and to make masks made from Ayurvedic plant powders.
Small warning about solid shampoos: there are many natural solid shampoos today, but they are not necessarily suitable for people suffering from alopecia and sensitive scalps, they can be very stripping. For my part, I paid the price: I did several tests until I preferred to create my own solid shampoo, with carefully selected ingredients to respect my scalp, while promoting regrowth. It was tested by about ten A/B testers with different hair problems and it was approved by all. It will be on sale this fall on veriere.com.
3. After 4 months, stop minoxidil only if the effects of natural products have proven positive.
Once you see positive results, try natural ingredients and products alone, without minoxidil. If in doubt, consult a professional. Regularly monitor the progress of your alopecia over the next 4 months.
4. Be disciplined for the first 8 months
Alternate between oil baths, natural shampoos and hair masks. Don't give up because this is the key to a successful natural transition. Tell yourself that your hair will have to get used to new types of nutrients to prevent hair loss and promote growth, without any "magic" help, so the frequency of care is key. So we apply ourselves and hold on for at least the first eight months to do the test and see if our body can really free itself from minoxidil.
5. Massage your scalp
This is part of the natural routine but don't forget it! It's a very important step! Perform gentle scalp massages regularly to stimulate blood circulation. This helps nourish the hair follicles and promote hair growth.
6. Trim your ends regularly
There's nothing like it to invigorate your hair and restore volume. For my part, I cut it once a month.
7. Monitor your ferritin levels
Maintaining a good level of iron in your body is very important. Iron is a key nutrient for hair but it can be difficult for the body to assimilate. Ask your doctor to determine your ferritin level (the body's iron reserves) and get his advice. My hair specialist told me that the proportion of iron recommended in blood tests is much too low to be beneficial for our hair. So you should not hesitate to take iron cures during the year depending on your ferritin level (to be discussed with your doctor according to your blood test), while avoiding foods that prevent its absorption during meals (coffee, tea, wine, etc.). For my part, I have not drunk tea for about ten years because it made me dizzy at the end of the day (at a rate of a few cups during the day) and it strongly impacts my iron level.
8. Take a course of food supplements
Even if you don't have any particular deficiencies, a course of food supplements can greatly promote hair growth. Pay close attention to their composition to have natural ingredients. For my part, I took a course of D-Lab's Growth Complex twice a year and it helped me a lot during this natural transition.
9. Hydrate yourself
Drinking water is a simple gesture and so beneficial for your health! 1.5L of water minimum per day. Healthy scalp, beautiful skin, ... it is always better to hydrate from the inside for more lasting effects.
10. Sleep well
Make sure you get enough sleep, as sleep plays a crucial role in cell regeneration, including hair regeneration.
I hope this article will help you take the plunge! The natural transition was a real relief for me to treat my alopecia, you just need a little courage at the beginning and you will see that afterwards it is only happiness!
